Each entry must focus on one of the following subject areas:
innovative materials, equipment, systems, technologies, construction practices, or any initiatives applicable to different construction projects in enhancing productivity and quality
innovative materials, equipment, technologies, construction practices, or any initiatives that could improve the safety and health conditions at construction sites
innovative materials, equipment, systems, technologies, or any initiatives applicable in the construction industry that are beneficial to the built environment
Except the sub-category of Full-time Students, the winner(s) will receive a cash prize, a trophy and a certificate for each prize.

*The prize money will be awarded as a sponsorship for students for an overseas duty visit organised by the CIC.
The International Awards are open to all innovators outside the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). There is no Young Innovator Prize under the International Award category.
The lead applicant applying for the Local Awards must be HKSAR Permanent Resident with the right of abode in the HKSAR or eligible to work or study in the HKSAR at the submission deadline.
The lead applicant applying for the Young Innovators Prize must meet the eligibility requirements of Local Innovators, he / she and his / her teammates (if any) should be of age 40 or below at the submission deadline (i.e. born after 28 Jun 1978).
The lead applicant applying for the Young Innovators Prize (Full-time Students) must meet the eligibility requirements of Young Innovators, he / she and his / her teammates (if any) should be full-time students at the submission deadline.
Applicant(s) may either enter the competition on his / her individual capacity or in a team consisting of no more than FOUR persons. If a team consists of team members eligible for both local & international awards, the team should submit their application for the category which the lead applicant belongs to.
Each lead applicant can only submit one application for each subject area.
Only one application can be submitted for each innovation.
Written consent must be obtained from the owner of the innovation if the applicant(s) is not the owner.
The CIC and / or the Judging Panel reserve the right to disqualify or determine on the eligibility of the Applicant(s).
Entries will be judged against the following criteria:
Benefit to the industry (40%)
The submission is able to identify area to be enhanced and demonstrate how the adoption / implementation of the innovation can add value to the construction industry from short to long term. We are also interested in how the submission can form a base for a larger system or platform of innovations and how it inspires future innovation and innovators.
Originality (30%)
The submission is able to demonstrate new and creative elements which are pioneered either in Hong Kong or from a global perspective. The entry must be the original work of the applicant(s) and is offering something different and has distinct, game changing advantages over alternatives.
Applicability (30%)
The submission is able to demonstrate that it can be viably implemented and sustained in the real world with a descriptive roadmap for implementation, which includes but is not limited to the current state of the idea / product, technology and product development to bring the idea to the market and financial consideration in application of the idea / product.
Applicants should submit the application form, the report and the video clips on or before Hong Kong Time 5:00pm 28 June 2019.

Announcement of Results
The finalists will be invited for a panel interview by email. If no invitation is received by November 2019, the application may be assumed as unsuccessful.
Presentation of the Awards will be made at the CIC Construction Innovation Award Presentation Ceremony in December 2019.
